MISSION

To empower adults aged 55 and older to take control of their cognitive and physical health through accessible, evidence-based community education on lifestyle factors that promote healthy aging.

VISION

A world where every older adult, regardless of background, has the knowledge, motivation, and support to live longer, healthier, and more fulfilling lives through informed health behaviors.

The Program

Aging Like A Pro highlights cognitive and physical resilience by encouraging behavior change through manageable actions and social interactions. It consists of seven core presentations.

Sleep Smarter

How well you sleep is so important. It can improve your mood and energy. It may reduce buildup of an abnormal protein called beta-amyloid plaque in the brain, which is associated with Alzheimer’s disease. This discussion will focus on sleep’s influence on aging, types of sleep and tips on how to improve it.

Mastering Mindfulness

Research suggests that being more mindful in our everyday lives can protect our health as we age. This discussion will explore why and how and offer a mindfulness exercise.

Smart Eating

Various diets have been shown to help us have clear minds. A Mediterranean diet of foods rich in antioxidants can help fend off the harmful effects of oxidation in your brain. This event hopes to spark a conversation about and offer advice for your diet.

Fitness for Life

Research suggests that being physically fit and active in our everyday lives protects your health as we age. This discussion will focus on why and how and offer exercise guidelines.

See Well: Age Well

Research suggests that vision is important to being able to be active in our everyday lives protecting your health as we age. This discussion will focus on why, warning signs, importance of annual check-ups.

11 Essentials for Healthy Aging

While genetic factors are not changeable, health behaviors and some health factors can be modified to protect our health as we age. This discussion will summarize the topics and guidelines covered in our Aging Like a Pro discussion.
